Gigs 2012
2012 was an amazing year for The Dependents with 50+ performances - it is difficult to even begin to describe all our experiences! One highlight is that we had the opportunity to play at one of our favorite places - Gore Mountain.  Jocelyn and Christian both work at Gore as instructors and Evan and Val love to ski the mountain, so it was really special playing there. Ski/snowboard all morning, play all afternoon - it doesn't get much better than that! We returned to Cafe NOlA in Schenectady a few times, and had a blast playing there! If you ever make the trip, get an order of Crawfish Nachos and some beignets. And then, in May, we released our own album!!!! Flippin' awesome, right! It's called Dry Cereal, and its available on iTunes, Amazon, etc.  We had an album release party at The Elephant Bistro in Canajoharie, another favorite place, and it was packed! We have such great fans and friends!! Our spring and summer were very busy with performances almost every weekend.  Then, on August 22nd, we got to play at CAFFE LENA in Saratoga! It was awesome to stand on that stage and imagine all the truly talented musicians - many of whom have inspired us - who played there too! What an honor! We competed at SPAC Battle of the Bands in August and had a blast hanging out with all the other bands. We finished off the year with a few of our most sentimental gigs, the November Stars Lions Club show which Jocelyn and Christian have played at for the last 5 years, and the Last Night Celebration in Fort Plain.

2013 will bring some changes for the band as Jocelyn goes off to college.  Stay tuned!

Gigs 2011

2011 was definitely the band's breakout year. We had 45 gigs, including one in Chincoteague, Virginia on our vacation with an amazing drummer-turned-restaurant-owner from Nashville! We even added a member, Val, to the band. At a 4th of July parade in Springfield, we were discovered by a national campaign for long-term care insurance who then hired us to write a song for them, which they put in their final promo. We needed to get into a professional recording studio (which was really sick) to record the insurance song, so we used the opportunity to record 4 originals and 1 cover. Two of our originals, Dry Cereal and More Than I Say I Do, were picked up by the radio station Exit 97.7 WEXT.  We all had a ton of fun and hope to keep on playing in 2012!
